7 Great commandments

GOD want to show his love for us, and reveal his eternal plan, so, he give us Bible. And the Great commandments is the core of this book. If we understand it; we acquire the main guiding thoughts, since it is so important. I like to further discuss it: GOD say:

Mak 12:30 And you are to have love for the Lord,  your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
Mak 12:31 The second is this, Have love for your neighbor as for yourself. There is no other law greater than these.

1. Why you have love for GOD with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength

Since, he is creator of all universe, everything visible and invisible and he deserve our reverence

Gen 1:1 At the first God made the heaven and the earth.
Jhn 1:3 All things came into existence through him, and without him nothing was.

So, You should honor him, because he is the source of everything, however,

How do GOD see us?

Jer 17:9 The heart is a twisted thing, not to be searched out by man: who is able to have knowledge of it?
Isa 53:6 We all went wandering like sheep; going every one of us after his desire; and the Lord put on him the punishment of us all.

So, when follow Christ, and call him Lord, we should the following attitude

Luk 14:26 And turning round, he said to them, If any man comes to me, and has not hate for his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and even for his life, he may not be my disciple.

Also, we should listen to his warning, when we call him LORD, because he say

Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

However, what is love GOD?

Is it building him a Temple for him to live, providing sacrifice for eating ? Or taking care of the poor? Let’s check from Bible:

Jhn 14:21 He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him.
Jhn 14:23 Jesus said to him in answer, If anyone has love for me, he will keep my words: and he will be dear to my Father; and we will come to him and make our living-place with him.
Jhn 14:24 He who has no love for me does not keep my words; and the word which you are hearing is not my word but the Father's who sent me.

From the above verses, we can see clearly: love GOD is obey his word, do not love GOD is not obeying his word, there is no room for any disagreement .

Then, what is GOD word ?

Simply put it, is any command that put in the Bible, please read the Postscript, so, we can start to do it .

Why there is “with all your” in the requirement:

Since, there are so many of his requirement, we can not do it all perfectly. However GOD is full of grace, that is why GOD said “with all your”. It is just like three years old, can only lift 3 pound of weight, however, 25 years young man could lift 50 pounds of weight. It is like returned prodigal son in the Bible story, even he still in his dirty clothes and smell like pig, GOD is receiving him wholeheartedly. So, GOD is NOT requesting everyone reaching a certain standard , and it is varied by individual. So,

2Co 8:12 For if there is a ready mind, a man will have God's approval in the measure of what he has, and not of what he has not.

However, if you cheat GOD or play lazy game you would have a good surprise in the end, because:

Jer 17:10 I the Lord am the searcher of the heart, the tester of the thoughts, so that I may give to every man the reward of his ways, in keeping with the fruit of his doings.

There is nothing could hide from Him, because he is GOD.

2. Second, love for your neighbor as for yourself

What is love your neighbor?

Jhn 13:34 I give you a new law: Have love one for another; even as I have had love for you, so are you to have love one for another.

So, how Jesus love us, so , we can do it likewise:

He calm the wind and sea by his word
Wake up dead people by his word
Cure Leprosy sickness by his word
Let the lame walk by his word
But,
Pave the way to allow us to have eternal life with all his all life

We can see what is really important: is let everyone to have eternal life.

　Jhn 10:18 No one takes my life away from me; I give it up of myself. I have power to give it up, and I have power to take it again. These orders I have from my Father.

So, when we follow Jesus, is not carrying cross (not your cross), is not dying on the cross, but follow GOD’s will

How to do “Love your neighbor as yourself ?

First how to love yourself, simply put yourself to follow GOD’s will

What is the command regarding self in the Bible:

Gal 6:5 Because every man is responsible for his part of the work.

Everyone should take care of themselves , not put your own burden on other people. However, the world would say it is selfish, or self center. However, this way of living is consistent with GOD’s will, because:

Pro 24:17 Do not be glad at the fall of your hater, and let not your heart have joy at his downfall:
Pro 24:18 For fear that the Lord may see it, and it may be evil in his eyes, and his wrath may be turned away from him.

Gal 6:2 Take on yourselves one another's troubles, and so keep the law of Christ.
However, if you see other people have heavy burden, then we should extend our help to our neighbor.

Mat 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross, and come after me.
Also, when we follow Jesus, then, we should throw out everything not consistent with GOD’s will , and submit ourselves wholeheartedly .

Mat 16:25 Because whoever has a desire to keep his life safe will have it taken from him; but whoever gives up his life because of me, will have it given back to him.

Because we are giving up our old rusty clothes in exchange for brand new eternal one.

To love other people, would be very simple: To ask other people to follow GOD’s will, like you are doing.

1Co 13:8 Though the prophet's word may come to an end, tongues come to nothing, and knowledge have no more value, love has no end.
